A fresh year brings fresh perspective. I want to get back to my roots, which means I’m dusting off my blogging skills and going to give it some fresh content and love.
This is where my personal creative juices started flowing in 2007. All of the old posts are still live on this site, should you have the desire to go back and read some of them. *Please don’t judge the awful photography.* There are recipes I still pull up myself on it: Legendary Cornbread, Short Ribs in the Slow Cooker and my Grandma Marge’s Pesto, too.
Revitalizing this blog means also expanding the content to not just recipes but to a bit of lifestyle, as well. My passion is not just cooking but entertaining with ease, zest and little stress.
I realize we’re already a week into this 2019 year, however, today is feeling like the real start of it. The 2018 holiday season was filled with so many festive gatherings, holiday cooking and hosting that it’s taken me a week into this New Year to feel human again.
Which leads me to my decision to try this Whole 30 lifestyle. Have to admit it’s not far off from how I normally eat on a daily basis, however after all the holiday treating and drinking, it’s much needed. A reset and a way to intentionally nourish my body rather than stuffing a bunch of decadent food down my throat.
I should have declared this on Day 1, which was January 1st, but truthfully, I needed to see how I’d do for a bit before I made it public. I don’t like to give up on these type of things, and putting it out there means I’d better be dedicated to success.
So far, it’s going well. Eating whole foods – meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts and fats comes fairly naturally. Even though my passion in life is food, I’ve had a complicated relationship with it the past four years since being diagnosed with food allergies. Suddenly several of my favorites were ripped from my daily menu options and a new journey of food discovery began. The glass is always half full, even when presented with challenges. It’s all in how you look at things. What it’s blessed me with is ways to eat better, feel better and help other people who have similar allergies.
This month’s posts will mostly be about Whole 30 recipes. I’ve found new fire and desire to bring fresh, new content here on the blog. Dust it off cause it’s been pretty dusty for a while. For some reason it felt right to focus my efforts in a new direction. Cheers to the New Year!
